I am looking for the best way to get a accredited school specializing in X-ray Technician in Illinois?
Can anyone help out… I see a lot of x ray technician schools online courses but what is the best way to get a degree in this field. I do have 3 years of college and only would be able to go for about a year and a half to 2 years. I am uncertain what would be my best options can anyone help.

Joseph asks…
Do you need to earn a degree to become an X-Ray technician?
I know there are degrees for this, but can you just get a certificate?
Whats better? Trade school? X Ray Technician Schools Online classes? Regular college?
Please help.

Jenny answers:
To be a radiologic technologist, you need to go through an accredited program (hospital or college), which are generally 40 hours per week for 2 years, after prerequisites. You can find more info here: https://www.asrt.org/content/abouttheprofession/_AboutTheProfession.aspx. As far as I know there are no x ray technician schools online available.

David asks…
About X-ray Technician or Radiologic Technology?
I am interested in furthering my education in X-ray Technician or Radiologic Technology in diploma or certificate program online. I’ve been searching x ray technician schools online or colleges that offers a program but i can’t still find one. Any help would be great and really appreciated. Thank you so much for your kindness!!

Jenny answers:
The schooling to become a RT requires hands on clinical education. The ARRT requires that you sign off on particular exams with a qualified RT and that you work a specific amount of hours. So even if the school allowed some of the classes to done on line; you would still have to be at the clinical site everyday.
The training for positioning is also very hands on. You can read about how to do it in the book, but you have to practice either on a fellow class mate ( no actual x-ray involved) or poor unsuspecting patients under the watchful eye of a RT. So far as I understand you will find no x ray technician schools online available.

Michael asks…
Where can you get certified at for an x-ray technician?
I was wondering where I could be certified as an x-ray technician. I know there are schools around that can do it but is there any x ray technician schools online programs that I can do or a booklet?
Thanks
Well I would like for all of you to know that I can be certified through a book that does not require you to go to school because I found one and I am not going for a xray technician so I only need to know part of the information for taking xrays. So all of ur information is useless to me.

Jenny answers:
Would you want someone radiating you that learned from a booklet?
The people who work in hospitals are radiologic technologists. You would need to go through an accredited radiography program, which you can find here: https://www.arrt.org/index.html?content=nd/listOfSchools.ndm/listSchools&iframe=yes
